Title: PDF coil tap
Post by: Plato5v on October 28, 2014, 07:26:31 AM
I wonder if Parker might reconsider adding a coil tap switch on the tone knob like the manual describes as being there.

I wouldn't sit waiting for something like that to happen Plato. It's a small thing but it does add to the production cost.  :P

Assuming the pickups have 4-wires, you can easily have a coil cut option and it will not alter the appearance of the guitar in any way. All you require is one (or two) replacement push-pull potentiometers which can replace either the volume or tone control depending on what you need.

I'm not familiar with the the pickups in the PDF but if they are not pre-wired for a coil cut you must either add wiring for the coil cut or simply replace with pups which have the required 4 wires.

The pickups can be split, Parker just decided not to put the splitting switch in the Piezo equipped PDFs. They DO include it on the non-piezo ones, as well as the DF line.

Parker Guitars states in its manual that the piezo-equipped PDFs have coil splitting.

How will Parker make good on its promise?

I don't own a PDF but there is nothing on the web site about a coil cut option.
Have you tried pulling up on one of the pots to check it?

Verified. Mine doesn't tap but it's been stated by Parker on these forums that the pickups (CC and '59) are fully ready to be wired for that purpose.
