Title: My Fly Classic '97 in Transparent Blue
Post by: Anton17 on November 10, 2008, 10:55:31 PM
EDIT FROM 2016 :D :

Since some of the pictures I took have been lost to hosting sites I reuploaded a couple so they can stand the test of time a bit more. I frequently spend a couple years travelling at a time but whenever I come home and see this guitar is always surprises me with its beauty. Ty for enjoy!

I thought I would repost some pictures that I've taken with a better camera to do her justice. [;)] I have also been introduced, thanks to guitarmanuk, to it's twin sister!

Hey Anton,

That's a beauty all right, but the finish is technically Trans-blue.  Teal is a non-trans metallic.  The back of a Trans-blue is Majik blue, but the front is transparent.  And if David has your guitars twin, then I've got their "little sister"... [:0][:p][;)]

Cheers,

Larry

Great guitar and great pictures of what's possibly the most beautiful blue finish that Parker ever offered.

Greetings...

It's the darnedest thing, though. It honestly depends on the light for just how the finish looks, in the right light it's down right Teal green, in others it's deep blue and then most of all it's just hints of cyan and greens just contrasting endlessly. It's like looking into a sea of Fly goodness! I did originally want a Fly with the mahogany wood grain as the finish, but I'm so glad I got this one, it's just beautiful.

Re "...looking into a sea of Fly goodness!"

Yeah, you got it bad. Believe me I know.

I agree with Nef too. That is the awesomeous Fly blue I can remember seeing.

Historically, Parker has done a fantastic job with the finish selections. Some things go out of style or eventually look dated for awhile until it comes back around.

Most Fly finishes are stunning enough to where they will always look great no matter the color fasion trends...

I normally don't like primary color stains over woodgrain, but that is one pretty guitar.

I wouldn't buy blue, but I'd be tempted with this one, and for blue that's saying something!

Sorry guys, I couldn't resist taking more pictures... I'm sure you won't mind!

This last one took a lot of effort, spent about 2 hours getting the lighting right and the frame angle and then tweaking it in post-edit; I couldn't be happier with the result!

That last picture is amazing but so are all your pictures.  This has pretty much sold me on Trans (Deep Ocean) Blue.  I made the last one my background!

Thanks, guys! I've changed the first picture for a different coloured one, but I bet you won't notice!

I cut the strings off while recording today, David. [8D]

It isn't actually deep ocean blue, it's a lot lighter, but I'm flattered my Fly will be looking at you each time you turn on your computer. [^]

I know it's not deep ocean blue but I can only assume that a trans deep ocean blue could only be even prettier.  And I'm already in love.

I can't remember ever seeing another one. Rare in any case for a classic. You might want to check out the trans blue Mojo they made more of those.

Hi guys

Semi-resurrected this thread since I came back to the forum for technical issues but wanted to find this old thread. A lot of the photos got lost due to hosting site issues since its been 8 years since the OG post so I reuploaded the images for the archive.

Sadly I travel a lot so I don't get to spend a lot of time with it but its an amazingly beautiful guitar I don't think I'll ever let go of.
