I like Mr. Wonderful's approach, but a word on Inderal. I took it for my wedding and take a related drug (atenolol) for high blood pressure now. Dose is not 1/20th that used for hypertension, rather usually about the same (it's not available in a dose 1/20th of the htn dose). Can't endorse it, but it blocks the effects of epinephrine (adrenaline) on the body while not significantly affecting brain function. Of course there are potential side effects, including erectile dysfunction, so use only under the direction of a physician. (my day job => MD, medical school professor).

Jeff, I took 30mg.    My concern about any side effects prompted my doctor, who is my friend and also a pianist to say that some people take over 20 times that dosage regularly.
Again, I was opening the topic for people who play out very infrequently.

Below is from web MD.

Some people may need to take up to 640 mg a day (320 mg twice a day) in order to lower blood pressure enough. However, the usual dose for most people is somewhere between 120 mg and 240 mg a day, taken as two smaller doses (60 mg to 120 mg twice a day).

If you are looking for something a little safer, something like claritin can help some. It is a beta-blocker that can help. Don't make more than the single dose daily as it can certainly increase you heart rate significantly in more doses (major side-effect). PS. I'm NO DOCTOR. THIS IS NOT medical advice. your mileage may vary.
