Replacement for Old Jack
« on: May 19, 2007, 11:09:29 PM »
I have grown frustrated with the old jack. So I changed it. I have no issues with a jack plate (Allparts) and luckily one is available that fits perfect and looks factory stock if you didn't know better. The jack is the one that comes stock with the Fishman Powerchip and is readily available. It actually has more options then the stock jack if you were to need them and has the built in switch for automatically connecting the battery when the jack is inserted. The only tricky part is enlarging the hole for the new jack. I did it with two files a 10" rat tail rasp file and a 14" square rough file. The unfilled hole is left over from the stereo mono switch, I'll probably just plug it.

Because the jack had failed. I changed it with a Parker style pin jack which destroys a portion of the ribbon cable. I jumpered it according to the directions Parker has published and then the piezo didn't work. I knew the day would come sooner or later that one of these would have to be converted and it came sooner. [:(]
