I didn't honestly think these would even get built......looks like they are almost ready.
1 piece body.........
the short story is this is Birch that has been pulled from the bottom of the great lakes. These logs were harvested at the turn of the last century and over the past number of years, an effort has been made to go back and raise logs that were submerged (and perfectly preserved)
These are OLD trees!

Well, from that pic I would say that the Birch is a bit more attractive than the Limba...maybe... I wonder how the sound / tones compare??
Pretty, but can't find much on the web about it being used for electrics. Real popular for cab's though...

yeah, that's a good question- what does birch sound like?
I'm imagining something between alder and spruce, based on grain and density..?
Would love to hear more about the old wood, in general.
