Hey,
I'm returning to guitar after a long hiatus (singing and dabbling in bass) and got interested in Parkers by this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80eYpOColWs
where Richard Bona is playing a Fly (Bronze I think) in a style similar to what I used to do and want to do again.
I also liked these jazz demos from Ray Mauger on a Fly Artist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KeJbitsopA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFuKwz3P0sQ
I also found this demo of a Fly Mojo (with DiMarzios): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjZ_1TZIeTg
I like the spruce body Fly sound, but they don't show up on Ebay in my price range, so I started looking at the other Parker lines.
I found a couple of jazz-style p44 demos, like these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmWgTmTKm8Q http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-WVOA6cQQk
But I haven't been able to find any similar demos of a Nitefly. (Closest I've come is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_bTJziaUVE.)
I had a choice between a P44PRO and a Nitefly-m on Ebay for around $700. I went with the P44PRO (don't actually have it yet) because I liked what I had heard on it, but had heard nothing on a Nitefly to convince me to choose it instead. But I'm still interested in the Nitefly option, since I like the feel of the high-tech Parker neck. (I got to play a used Fly Classic at Guitar Center. But I haven't found a Nitefly to play anywhere in my vicinity.)
By the way, I do need the other Parker features found on the P44PRO and the Nitefly - vibrato, graphite nut, Sperzel tuners -so I can do some whammy bar stuff too.
(This message is a little long, but I'm hoping others will find this collection of links useful.)
So, where are those jazz demos on a Nitefly? YouTube, MySpace, mp3, whatever!

Personally, I wouldn't get any Parkers that didn't have the composite fretboard and glued on stainless steel frets. That's what makes the Nitelfy and Fly such incredible guitars. Ken Parker had nothing to do with all those models that followed the Fly and Nitefly. Those were created after he sold the company to US Music Corp.
As far as getting a jazz tone goes, there's a lot more to it than just the guitar to get that sound. The guitar is just one piece of a puzzle with many pieces. I can get any kind of tone that I want from my Mojo Nitefly, including nice jazz sounds.

Hey Scottus- here's an old but good demo of a NiteFly, tho not "jazzy" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNi6144ER9Y&feature=related
Hope this helps -I have a NF and I love it; I still want to get a Fly someday, but the NiteFly is an awesome guitar. |

| Scanman413: Thanks, that is a good one. I'd seen it, but you made me give it a closer look, and it's worth including in this thread. (Yeah, a Fly Artist is on my 'someday' list.) |
